Food it Forward
Helping Local Main Line Restaurants
from Wayne to Narberth while also
helping those in need and on the front lines.
To help the local community impacted by the COVID-19 crisis, Community Backstop is teaming up with former Phillies reporter and Comcast SportsNet anchor Leslie Gudel and her Food it Forward program. Community Backstop is building on Leslie’s initiative by supporting the local area restaurants, first responders, and families in need from Wayne to Narberth along the Main Line.
With Food it Forward, you’re giving not once, but twice. One hundred percent of all donations will go directly to purchasing gift cards from locally based, regionally owned food establishments. We will then donate those gift cards to first responders and families in need. We are a 501(c)(3) organization and once your donation has been made, you will receive an electronic receipt for your tax-deductible donation.
* Community Backstop will match the first $10,000 in donations

Frequently Asked Questions
How much of my donation will go to purchasing gift cards? – 100% of your donation will go toward the purchase of restaurant gift cards.
How can I designate my donation to a specific restaurant – You can select the restaurant(s) you want to support during the checkout process. After you hit “Donate,” you’ll be asked to select an amount and a payment method. On the next page, there will be a “Note” section. Please write the restaurant you’d like to support in that section. If you want to support more than one restaurant, we will divide the donation up equally, unless you specify otherwise. After filling in this section, you can complete your transaction.
What will you do with the gift cards once they’ve been purchased? – We will be donating the gift cards to local organizations (such as food pantries and social workers), who provide services for those in need. Our goal is to also provide the gift cards to front line responders at Bryn Mawr Hospital and Lankenau Medical Center.
Is my donation tax deductible? – We are a 501(c)(3) organization, which means your donation is tax deductible, but please check with your accountant, as each individual may have a different charitable threshold.
What is Community Backstop and how can I be sure my donation is going to Food it Forward? – Community Backstop is a registered 501(c)(3) that was established to assist our local community in need. During this time of crisis, Community Backstop is supporting local restaurants, first responders, and families in need through the Food it Forward program. Food it Forward is NOT a registered 501(c)(3). For this reason, you’re making your donation to Community Backstop.
