Beating the Odds A girl is diagnosed with brain cancer, and beats it. She is told she will not be able to bear children, yet has four before having her tubes tied. God had another plan, as she soon found herself pregnant with a fifth child, who was born eight weeks premature. He inherits his Mom’s genes, and also defies the odds by surviving until his first birthday. He recently made it through a kidney transplant, but due to his prenatal complications there will be more surgeries to follow. CB was there to help defray the never ending medical bills.

Car Trouble A regular guy like you and me was driving to work early last year and was in a devastating car accident. After multiple surgeries, he remains paralyzed from the chest down. CB helped fund the construction of a first floor bedroom and bathroom to make his home more manageable. This guy does not have “quitter” in his vocabulary, and we’re glad to be able to help him remove one small obstacle from his life.

Health Issues for Dad After being laid off from a NJ golf course and without health insurance, a husband and father of three was admitted to the hospital after having a heart attack. Little did he know that a blood disorder had also led to renal failure and pneumonia, and that his world would be turned upside-down. CB has provided assistance to help with his daughter’s tuition and otherwise bridge the gap until he can get back on his feet.

Just Another Road Trip? An 18-year-old girl from the area was making the long drive to college in the Midwest when her boyfriend fell asleep at the wheel. While he was unharmed, she suffered a spinal cord injury which has rendered her a quadriplegic. Although college is on hold for now, her mom is working diligently keep up with tuition payments for her two brothers. And to further complicate things, her father passed away just last year from a heart attack. CB rushed in and purchased a specialized wheelchair so she can continue with her rehabilitation.

Gone Way Too Soon Diagnosed with an extremely rare form of brain cancer on Mother’s Day, headed to heaven on September 11. That was the fate of a beautiful 5-year-old girl who left behind two bewildered older sisters and parents trying to put the pieces back together. CB helped make their Christmas a bit more special and make a dent with the inevitable medical costs.

How Do You Prepare For This? After the family’s main breadwinner was laid off from work, he was diagnosed with a progressive liver disease that would ultimately lead to a liver transplant. His wife, a pre-school teacher, needed to take an unpaid leave of absence to care for him after the transplant. With two children under the age of 4, CB stepped in to help them make ends meet during this difficult period.

Solving a Mystery A 19-year-old girl suffers from a rare congenital malformation of the brain. Although a complicated surgery in 2009 alleviated many of the problems, she inexplicably has not been able to eat or drink since that time. Can you imagine having a feeding tube for over two years? Her doctors are stumped by this complication, and have sent her around the country to consult with other specialists. These trips and appointments have been very costly, and the unusual circumstances of her case make the insurance coverage spotty. CB has helped give her the resources to continue her search for an end to this unfortunate predicament.
